Felix Helmut Schacher (born 17 October 1980) is a German chemist and full professor for Organic Chemistry and Macromolecular Chemistry at the Friedrich-Schiller University Jena (FSU).

Academic and professional background

Felix H. Schacher studied chemistry at the Universities of Bayreuth (Germany) and Lund (Sweden) and obtained his diploma in 2006. After completing his PhD under the supervision of Axel H. E. Müller in 2009, he joined the group of Ian Manners at the University of Bristol as a DAAD postdoctoral fellow. In 2010, he was appointed Junior Professor at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (FSU) and became a full Professor at this institution in 2015. His scientific interests encompass controlled/living polymerization techniques, block copolymers, polyelectrolytes, and polyampholytes. He applies these interests within the context of utilizing directed self-assembly.[1] processes for material design in the fields of membranes, hybrid materials, and biomedicine[2]

Felix H. Schacher has been a Member of the Academy for Teaching Development at FSU since 2021[3]. Additionally, he holds editorial roles in journals such as e-Polymers[4], and Polymer Chemistry (as a member of the editorial advisory board)[5].
