Dr. Fauziah Mohd Hasan is a highly accomplished gynecologist and activist. She graduated from Australia in 1982 and has been a medical practitioner at KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital since 1997.[1]

Personal life

Born in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia in 1957, Dr. Fauziah is the second generation of a Chinese-Muslim family that migrated from China to Malaya. She is married to Prof Dr. Alauddin Mohd Ali and they have three children.[2]

Contribution

In addition to her medical career, Dr. Fauziah has made significant contributions to humanitarian work. She has served as the Treasurer of Medical Relief Malaysia (MERCY Malaysia) from 2000-2006 and has participated in missions to Kosovo, Maluku Indonesia, Afghanistan, Aceh, Pakistan, and Gaza. She is an active member of Aqsa Syarif, a humanitarian NGO focusing on the Palestine issue, and has held various leadership roles within the organization.

Since 2011, she has been the Advisor of Rose2Rose (R2R)[3], another agency under MyCARE, which focuses on women and children empowerment.

She was the Vice Chairperson of Aqsa Syarif from the year 2010 and to date, she is on the Board of Trustees of MyCARE [4]

She has led a number of campaigns to protect women and children of war in Palestine, Syria, and Rohingya and a mission to Gaza in 2012.

She was the sole Malaysian representative on board the Zaytouna-Oliva, which has been released by Israeli authorities[5]

It was reported that the Zaytouna-Oliva was seized by the Israeli navy around 10 pm Malaysian time on Wednesday at 42 nautical miles off the Gaza coast, and the 13 women were held at the Ashdod Port.
