Ezekiel Paruntu Stuart (born 28 October 2002) is an Indonesian politician who currently serves as a member of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of South Minahasa Regency for the 2024–2029 period. He is affiliated with the Golkar Party and was elected at the age of 21, making him the youngest member of the legislature. Following the 2024 general election, he was appointed as the temporary speaker (pimpinan sementara) of the DPRD.[1]
Background and Early Life
Ezekiel was born in Jakarta and raised in a family with strong political ties in North Sulawesi. He is the son of Kombes Pol. Bambang Widjanarko Baiin, a senior police officer, and Jacqueline Veronica Paruntu. He is the grandson of the late Prof. Dr. Ir. Jopie Paruntu, MS, and Jenny Tumbuan, who was a multiple-term chairwoman of the DPRD Minsel and a prominent Golkar Party figure.[1]
His maternal aunts are Christiany Eugenia Paruntu (also known as "CEP"), a former Regent of Minsel and Chairwoman of Golkar North Sulawesi, and Michaela Elsiana Paruntu, who chairs the Golkar Party in South Minahasa.[2]
Although raised in a political family, Ezekiel chose to pursue formal studies in **law (hukum)**, equipping him with legal and governance knowledge to support his future in public office.[3]
He later continued his leadership and political education at the Golkar Institute, where he was named the top graduate (lulusan terbaik) of the 2024 cohort.[4]
Political Career
Paruntu entered politics through the 2024 legislative election, contesting a seat in the DPRD Minsel from the electoral district that includes Amurang, Amurang Barat, and Amurang Timur. Running under the Golkar Party, he secured **2,701 votes**, earning a seat in the regional parliament.[1] Upon inauguration, he was appointed as the temporary speaker of the council pending the selection of a definitive leadership board.[2][3]
