Evil Felipe is an all girl punk rock band from Central Massachusetts.
History
Evil Felipe was formed in February of 2016 with Ella Staltare on guitar, Maya Staltare and Jeff Staltare on drums, and Jim Bain on bass. Emma Bain joined not long after to contribute vocals and guitar. Prior to the formation of the band Ella, Maya, and Emma had met through their parents. The band played their first show, Big Rock Fest on May 29 of 2016, where they had a barbecue sauce named after them[1]. After the first show Jim Bain and Jeff Staltare departed from the band. They played their next show on July 9th, and the three girls continued to play a series of open mics and other small shows at venues such as The Raven and The Center for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts. The band added current member Felicity Kuszewski on bass guitar for Big Rock Fest 2017. In 2018 they competed in Eagle Hill's The Centre's Got Talent and won first place along with the Audience Choice Award.
The band also played at festivals such as stART on the Street, Punk Island[2], and Relay For Life and has appeared in volume 3 of Punkcake Zine[3].
The band began recording their single California Bound early 2018 and released it on May 7th, 2019.
Their debut album June Gloom was released on October 15th, 2019.
Musical Style
Evil Felipe is usually classified as Punk rock, pop punk, punk rock, Rock music, and sometimes incorporates ska and Surf music undertones into their music. Victor Infante of the Telegram and Gazette describes their song California Bound as having "rough-and-tumble rock spirit[4]"
They cite some of their musical influences as The Regrettes, Remo Drive, Hockey Dad, Vundabar, Hunny (band), Green Day, Nirvana (band), Weezer, and The Pathetics.
