Eudes Picard (13 February 1867, Meylan - 12 November 1932, Paris) was a French Astrologer.[1] [2][3] Coincidentally, he was born on the same day as another French Astrologer; Paul Choisnard. [4]

Picard studied at the Parisian Ecole Polytechnique and became an official of the Société Génerale, a role that he maintained alongside his Astrological practice.

In his Astrological analyses, Picard was greatly influenced by Bouché-Leclercq and his L'Astrologie Grecque. He relied on the ancient technique of Derived Houses which allowed him to obtain 144 charts as opposed to the usual 12.[5][6] Picard also taught an Astrology course at the French Society of Astrology, around 1927 and wrote Astrologie judiciaire, published in 1932 by Leymarie.[1][7]

Picard developed an innovative Tarot system filled with references to Astrology and Alchemy. He explained his method in the book Manuel synthétique et pratique du Tarot (le tarot, les lames mineures et majeures, interprétation), published by H.Daragon in 1909.[8][9] For Picard the major arcana represent causes and the minor cards represent effects. His variations influenced numerous subsequent decks, including Domenico Balbi's designs as well as Maritxu Guler’s El Gran Tarot Esoterico[10][11][12].
