Ethan Turner (sommelier)
Ethan Turner (born June 6, 1995, Columbia, South Carolina) is an African-American Sommelier and perfumer who developed over 250 bespoke scents distributed globally.[1] Turner was trained in perfuming at the French academy ISIPCA, and as a Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers.[2][3]
Background
He graduated from Drake University with both a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, and a second BA in Writing.[4] With a lifelong interest in the olfactive sense, Turner began studying perfumery, wine, and the sense of smell at the age of 19. Born in but raised in six different states, Turner was raised by two engineers, so he was adept to science and math. During college he took courses in Fashion & Luxury Brand Management from Bocconi University|Università Bocconi in Milan|Milan, Italy.[5] He designed Senti Designs Anuri A La Plage, as well as House of David 'Burnished Leather,' and has been featured in publications such as Cuisine Noir, Perfumer & Flavorist, AskMen, among others.[6] In 2022, He was nominated for Best Designer, and was awarded Perfumer of the Year from the Golden Pinapple Awards.[7]
Black Perfumery
As a commitment to decolonizing the fragrance industry, Turner's fragrances was added to the Black Perfumery index created by the Scent Festival Organization.[8][9] Turner fragrances is one of few black owned perfumeries.[10]
