Ethan Rosenzweig is an American diplomat and government official, who serves as the Acting Chief of Protocol of the United States.[1] Prior to this role, he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs[2].
Early life and education
Rosenzweig was born in Monroe, Louisiana. He attended American University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Public Policy. Following his graduation from American, Rosenzweig served as a Presidential Management Fellow at the United States Department of Education, serving as an aide to Secretary Richard Riley.[2]
Following his service at the Department of Education, Rosenzweig attended Emory University School of Law. Rosenzweig clerked for Judge George Ernest Tidwell on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.[2]
Academic career
Rosenzweig served as Associate Dean of Emory University School of Law, where he was responsible for overseeing Emory Law's enrollment management and admissions practices.[citation needed]
State Department
In 2021, President Joe Biden appointed Rosenzweig to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programs at the United States Department of State. He assumed office on August 30th, 2021.[citation needed]
Acting Chief of Protocol
In July 2023, it was announced that Rufus Gifford would serve as the National Finance Chair for the Joe Biden 2024 presidential campaign.[3] President Biden appointed Rosenzweig to serve as the acting Chief of Protocol following Gifford's departure. Rosenzweig formally assumed office on July 31st, 2023.[1]
