Ersel Göral (born Arpil 12, 1972) is a Turkish businessperson and professional executive. The CEO of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport Inc and SGC Airport Premises Inc. [1]
Early years
Ersel Göral was born in Istanbul on 12 April 1972. He graduated from Kadikoy Maarif College and had his Business Administration degree in 1998, from Istanbul University. He stepped into the Aviation Business in 1993 and held offices there both in Turkey and abroad since then.
Career
After officiating as the Deputy General Manager (Operations) at Ataturk Airport, he has worked as the General Manager of TAV Airports Holding’s Tbilisi and Batumi Airports in Georgia for two years and then as the Director General of TAV’s Enfidha-Hammamet and Monastir Airports in Tunisia for four years , as both of these projects consisting of the greenfield investment and terminal/airport operation terms. Ersel Goral, upon his return to Turkey in 2011, held the General Manager position in Antalya International Airport until the end of 2015. Then from the beginning of 2016 until September 2017, he performed as the Chief Airportwide Integration Officer (CAIO) at IGA, the concessionaire of the investments and operations at Istanbul New Airport. Goral has been appointed as the CEO of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport as per September 2017 and currently holds that office. Besides his broad experience in operations and facility management fields, he has taken part in all the phases (i.e. tender, contract management, project financing, designing, construction and management) of privatization projects and currently he is the sole senior executive who has officiated at the four major airport/terminal operating SPVs in Turkey.
Awards and honors
Under Goral’s directorship, Sabiha Gokcen Airport was named as one of the 10 major airports in Europe and won more than 50 local and international awards by means of the projects led by Goral. Last but not the least; Sabiha Gokcen Airport was rewarded by CAPA as the Airport of the Year Worldwide in 2019. Ersel Goral has won a bronze prize at the Worldwide Transportation Executive of the Year category of 2019 Stevie Business Awards and in 2020, he has been selected as one of the 50 CEO steering Turkish business environments by Business Life magazine.
