Ernest Radjen (born March 1, 1959) is a Serbian professional basketball coach who is currently a head coach for BC Beijing Ducks (CBA) of the CBA Chinese Basketball Association.
Playing career
Radjen started to play basketball in 1970. In 1977/1978. he was playing first professional season in BC Dalvin from Split. After two years went to Zagreb. where he played in BC Monting, Zagreb and BC Zagreb. Ernest played for the teams: BC Velebit – Benkovac, BC Dalvin – Split, BC Monting – Zagreb, BC Zagreb, Zagreb, BC Medvescak – Zagreb, BC Knin – Knin, BC Hercegovac – Bileca and at that time he was the top scorer of then republican league.
Coaching career
Clubs
Radjen 1990 worked in basketball school in Zadar, Croatia. 1993 worked like director of youth selections of BC Vojvodina, Novi Sad - Serbia, head coach of junior team and head coach of second team of BC Vojvodina. He won Championship of Serbia with junior team. 1994 named for head coach of junior team of Vojvodina region in Yugoslavia. 1994/95 assistant coach of senior team of BC Vojvodina (played in Cup Korac) and director of youth selections. 1995/96 assistant coach of BC Vojvodina with head coach Goran Miljkovic. Also, worked in physical condition of players. 1996/97 assistant coach of BC BFC Beocin with Goran Miljkovic and worked in physical condition of players. 1997/98 assistant coach of BC NAP – Novi Sad, director of youth selections, director for physical condition. Junior team played final of Championship of Yugoslavia.
1998/99 assistant coach of BC Aris BC Aris – Thessaloniki with Soulis Markopoulous and Zvi Serf. Was director of physical condition and was the coach for selecting young perspective players. 1999/2000 assistant coach of BC Aris BC Aris – Thessaloniki with Soulis Markopoulous. Since 2000 until 2006 assistant coach of BC Aris BC Aris – Thessaloniki with coaches Aleksandris, Jatzoglu, Minic and Barton. In 2003/04 won FIBA Cup in Thessaloniki with head coach Aleksandris. In 2004/05 won Greek Cup in Lamia with head coach Barton. 2006/07 worked like technical adviser in BC Ment – Thessaloniki. Same season later signed with BC PAOK – Thessaloniki and worked like assistant coach and director of physical conditions of players. 2008/09 assistant coach of BC Vojvodina (Adriatic league) with Milan Minic and VladoDjurovic. Same season worked like head coach of BC Vojvodina. 2009/10 assistant coach of PAOK – Thessaloniki and director of physical conditions. 2010/2011 assistent coach of Fenerbahce Womens team and director of physical conditions. Team has won champion Turkey and won president cup.
2011/2012 Director of physical conditions in Mens junior national team Shandong, China. At July and August 2012, assistant coach and physical conditions coach in National Team of Hungary. 2012/2013, assistant coach and physical conditions coach Shandong Gold Lions Basketball Club, team has won CBA (China Basketball Association) league playoff's second place. 2012/2013, assistant coach of Shandong province team, team has won bronze medal on Olympic Games of China. 2013/2015 Head coach and physical conditions coach of BC Jiangsu Dragons (CBA). 2015 – 2018 Technical Adviser in BC Qingdao Eagles (CBA). 2018/2019 Head coach and physical conditions coach of BC Qingdao Eagles. 2019 Assistant coach in BC Shandong Golden Stars. 2019/2020 Mentor and coach in Laszlo Ratgeber Basketball Academy in Hungary. 2020/2021 Assistant coach and Mentor for physical preparation in BC Shanghai Sharks. 2021/2022 Assistant coach and Mentor for physical preparation in BC Shandong Golden Stars. [1] 2022/2023 Ernest started the season as an assistant coach, and during the season, he took over the team as the head coach and significant progress with the team. They played in playoffs and eliminated Jilin Northeast Tigers, who had previously knocked out the Beijing Ducks the year before. 2023/2024 Head coach of Beijing Ducks.
Basketball camps
Radjen organized and was director of Nikos Gallis camp since 2000 until 2007 (Pefkohori, Greece). He worked in many other camps like a coach – Messaggero Roma (1991), PAOK Thessaloniki (2005, 2006, 2009), Athens (2003). Worked as a coach and main coordinator in the basketball camp Hidaet Turkoglu, Istanbul (2011). Currently, Radjen is organizer and co-owner of Basketball Camp “Ernest Radjen” in Serbia.
Other works in basketball
Radjen published several expertly literatures (Physical Education, Kinesiology, Coach GR, Coach – Serbia), was the reader in many seminars for coaches in Novi Sad – Serbia, University Megatrend in Belgrade, Thessaloniki – Panorama, he is consistent member of basketball seminars in Belgrade, Thessaloniki and Athens and coach lecturer (basketball and physical preparation) for CBA China coaches for 12 years. He is also author of basketball book – Multi-practice (drills personally created and used during coaching career) and mentor in Ratgeber basketball academy. [2] Ernest worked individually with many top Basketball players.
Education
In 1984 graduated at Zagreb University – Faculty of Physical Education. In 2012 graduated Master Degree at Alfa University-Faculty of Sports management, the finally thesis is “characteristics of scouting in modern basketball”. Foreign languages: English ,Greek, Russian.
Personal life
Ernest Radjen is married and has two sons from his first marriage.
