Erkin Tatishev – (born January 01, 1976) is a Kazakhstani businessman, founder and chairman of the diversified industrial holding company «Kusto Group», one of the richest businessmen in Kazakhstan with a fortune of $ 335 million.[1][2][3] Ranked 15th on the "50 Most Influential Businessmen of Kazakhstan - 2022".[4]
He owns shares of the «Radisson Collection hotel» (Tsinandali, Georgia),[5] «United Minerals Group Limited», which includes «Kostanay Minerals» and «Orenburg Minerals»,[6] as well as the «KazPetrolGroup» oil company.
Biography
Yerkin Tatishev was born on January 1, 1976 in the village of Turbat of Kazygurt District of Turkistan Region in a large family of a doctor and a teacher.[7]His brother Yerzhan Tatishev was Kazakhstani banker who was the chairman and CEO of BTA Bank JSC.In 2004, at the age of 37, Yerzhan was shot in the head in a car.[8]
Yerkin graduated from the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics, and Informatics with a degree in Finance and Credit and the M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University with a degree in Jurisprudence.[9]
Since 2002, founded the industrial and investment holding «Kusto Group».[10][11]
From 1998 to 2004, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kostanay Minerals JSC and Orenburg Minerals JSC.[12]
In 2004-2009, took leadership positions in banking in Kazakhstan and Turkey (Bank TuranAlem, [13][14] Sekerbank T.A.S [15])
In 2017, Tatishev opened the «High Tech Academy», the first innovative school in Kazakhstan.[16][17]
During the pandemic in 2020, Kusto Group allocated 1 billion tenge to support the population.[18]
In 2021, he became the winner of the international competition «Entrepreneur of the Year - 2021» according to Ernst & Young.[19]
Personal life
Assel and Yerkin met at work. Assel is in the restaurant business, together they bring up 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys.[20][21]
