Eric Kwame Adae is a Ghanaian author and an assistant professor of public relations at Drake University School of Journalism and Mass Communication.[1]
Before entering academia, he worked as a media and communication consultant in Ghana. He possesses extensive practical knowledge in various promotional disciplines, encompassing public relations, advertising, brand establishment and supervision, event organization, and strategic communication for organizational transformations. His professional background encompasses a wide range of environments, including internal strategic communication departments, public relations agencies, advertising and branding firms, both private and public sectors in Ghana, as well as collaborations with the USAID and World Bank systems within the West African sub region.[1][2]
Adae is a member of the Institute of Public Relations and the Chartered Institute of Marketing in Ghana and he has over 15 years of experience in the media and public relations industries.[2][3]
Education
Eric Kwame Adae enrolled at Ebenezer Secondary School in 1983, obtaining an Ordinary Level Certificate in 1988 in Business and Economics. He then proceeded to Accra Academy for his Advanced Level Certificate between 1988 and 1990. He started studying at the University of Ghana in 1991, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Sociology with English at the end of a four-year programme in 1994. In 2006, Adae completed his MPhil in Communication Studies at the University of Ghana. Adae was awarded his PhD in Communications and Media Studies in 2020 by the University of Oregon, School of Journalism & Communication.[1][4]
Career
Adae began his career in several communication specialist roles and eventually became the Group Head of Corporate Communications at CDH Financial Holdings, a diversified financial services group in Ghana.[5] [6] He also served as an adjunct lecturer at the African University College of Communications and the School of Communication and Information Studies, University of Ghana.
He was appointed associate professor at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Drake University in August 2020, where he teaches in both undergraduate and graduate public relations programs.[1][2]
