Eric Alan Jones, PhD is an academic, historian, and researcher currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Northern Illinois University (NIU). He is recognized for his contributions to Southeast Asian studies, particularly in the history of colonialism in the region. In addition to his academic work, he has been actively involved in legislative and leadership training programs for Indonesian officials and has made significant contributions through research and publications.

Educational Background

Eric Alan Jones earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Berkeley (1999–2003). He is proficient in Dutch, Indonesian, and Malay, with professional-level translation experience in Afrikaans. He also has intermediate reading and basic speaking and writing abilities in German, French, and Frisian.
