Emily Bianca Weir is an Australian actress.
Emily is best know for playing Mackenzie Booth on Home and Away since 2019.
In 2023, it was announced Emily would be taking part in the 2023 series of Dancing With The Stars Australia.[1]
Personal Life
Emily was born and raised in Brisbane, Australia. She has one brother, Tom.
She was a dancer for over 15 years, and also took piano and singing lessons.[2]
In 2020, Emily publically revealed her struggles with alcohol. She told Jonathon Moran from The Daily Telegraph "I had an epiphany on a massive hangover where I realised I wasn’t living my best life. The epiphany was basically a dream of me as an older woman, full grey hair in plaits with true (red wine) blood mouth, covered in cat hair, alone. The thought was that if I kept going the way I was, that could be my life. Alcohol for me was my poison.”[3]
Emily has been sober since April 18, 2018.
Acting Career
After leaving high school, Emily studied law and moved to London In 2017, Emily was awarded the Billie Brown Award for Best Emerging Actress and Best Supporting Actress for her role in the theatrical production of Tartuffe at the Matilda Awards at Brisbane's Powerhouse.[4]
In 2003, Emily landed her first television appearance on The Sleepover Club which later sparked her interest in pursuing a career of acting.
Following her dreams, in 2013 Emily started a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) at QUT.
Home and Away
In 2019 Emily landed the role of Mackenzie Booth in Home and Away.
She recalls “I was smiling and crying during the moment I heard the news that I had landed the amazing role of Mackenzie on Home and Away. It was the best day of my life. That weekend I flew home to Brisbane to tell my family who were beyond excited – they threw me a party and we all cried and celebrated together. They are so incredibly proud of me”.
Her character first appeared on 13th June 2019.
In 2023, Emily starred in Home and Away co-star Matt Evan's debut music video Over It as a partygoer.
Dancing With The Stars
Emily was announced as part of the cast for Dancing With The Stars Australia 2023 on 11 May 2023.[5]
