Eloquenti is a US-based online marketplace for proofreading, copy editing, and writing services such as grant writing, technical writing and scientific writing.[1] Eloquenti enables scholars to browse and select professional editors, grant writers, and external reviewers based on their credentials and pricing.[2]
History
Eloquenti was launched in 2021 by academic researchers who were seeking editors for their scientific manuscripts but found existing proofreading agencies to be overpriced and lacking in transparency.[3] This led them to create an online marketplace where researchers could find English-language proofreaders, editors, and grant writers based on subject matter expertise, publication record, and pricing.[4]
By 2024, the platform featured over 250 subject matter experts specializing in different fields of natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and medicine.[5] Most Eloquenti freelancers are scientists and researchers themselves, specializing in the editing of scientific manuscripts.[6]
Services and business model
Eloquenti has been referred to as a provider of scientific editing and grant writing services by universities,[7][8] scientific societies,[9][10] academic presses,[11][12] and peer-reviewed journals.[13][14][15]
Eloquenti offers services such as English language editing,[16] manuscript editing,[17] manuscript preparation services,[18] grant writing and editing,[19] scientific writing services.[20] Clients can use search filters, including subject, document type, and format, to compare freelancer profiles based on their credentials, reviews, and pricing. The platform also allows clients to request free quotes, exchange the documents, and communicate with freelancers directly.
Eloquenti recruits its freelancers from US universities.[21][22]
