Elaine Loo Yee Ling (Chinese: 羅苡玲; born 7 December 1987) is a Malaysian education researcher and author specialising in parenting and child development.[1][2]
Early life and education
Loo earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance from Anglia Ruskin University, a Master's Degree in Psychology from East Bridge University, and a PhD recipient in Education from the University of Malaya, specialising in educational psychology and curriculum development. [3]
As of 2025, Loo is pursuing her second PhD in computing education at the University of Jyväskylä.
Career
Loo began her career in youth coaching. She founded ProMizzion (formerly known as Prokidz),[3] a programme aimed at supporting teenagers in leadership development and life direction, before later establishing Deemcee (formerly known as De'Emcee), an education platform for younger children focused on communication skills.[4]
Research and publications
Loo has authored two parenting books, Prison Child (2017) and Prison Parent (2020), which discuss parenting practices and children's emotional development.[5][6]
In 2024, she published an article titled "The Effect of 5Q Parental Education on Children's Emotion through Healing of Inner Child among Parents" in the Semarak International Journal of Applied Psychology.[7]
Her methods and parenting frameworks were further discussed in See Hua Daily News in 2025, which examined her work with families and her use of developmental psychology in parental education.[8][9] Her views on adaptability and child development were also profiled in Sin Chew Daily, which discussed her contributions to parenting education in Malaysia.[2]
Recognition
In 2024, she was listed among the recipients of the Malaysia Influential Educators (MIE) recognition programme.[4]
