El Anatsui was born February 4, 1944 in Anyako, Ghana. He is a highly accomplished artist and well renowned in African History for his use of transforming discarded resources into intrinsic contemporary sculptures. These resources include, liquor bottle caps, newspaper printing plates and cassava graters. Through artworks such as Earths Cloth and Condluence, few among the many, Anatsui is able to reflect his continent and the history behind colonialism while also shining light on the environment and its correlation to waste and consumption. Overall, El Anatsui is a well regarded artist who reinvents the world of art through his unique sculpture that carry deeper significance
