Ejikeme Patrick Nwosu is a Nigerian inventor, Scientist, and author. He was granted patents from the Nigerian government for his work on the conversion of urine into flammable gasses and on development of Ezeugo Flask ..[1][2][3][4] He has been listed among five other inventors in Nigeria, in a speech by the President Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari, delivered by his deputy, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN[5] for his inventions, including that of the Fire Retardant Paint.[6]

Early life and education

Ejikeme Patrick Nwosu was born on February 4, 1983 in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. [1] He studied Pure and Industrial Chemistry at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, earning a Bachelor's degree. He has a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Ibadan.[2]

Inventions

Patrick Nwosu invented six devices and was listed among five other inventors in Nigeria, in a speech by the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari, delivered by his deputy, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN[5] for his inventions, including the Fire Retardant Paint.[6] Another invention is the Ezeugo Flask, a separation technique and equipment, which effectively purifies a mixture of solvent, miscible solute and colloid by-products of Lumos Laboratories. Nwosu calls the separation technique, "Ezeugomisation" after his father, Ezeugo. Nwosu also isolated ammonia from human urine.[6] He set up a plant which converts urine into energy or flammable gas during a chemical reaction. [6][7][8]In the trials for this invention, he also invented the Ticlob-Lumos Method, Patrium Flask Reactor and and Fire Retardant Paint. When furniture and other devices are coated with the Fire Retardant Paint, they will not be burnt by fire.[6] In 2022, Patrick Nwosu partnered with Greg Vezina, founder of Hydrofuel Canada Inc., to produce green hydrogen, ammonia, fertilizer, and electricity, all from human and animal wastes [9][10]. On November 23, 2022 also, the Federal Government of Nigeria granted another patent to Nwosu for inventing urine-based fertilizer, Nwosu produced this fertilizer by first developing a prototype urine-diverting toilet which harvested urine from its point of deposition. He envisaged a future in which people would be paid for passing urine in conveniences because of the use of the urine for producing the fertilizer which Nwosu had invented [11] The Certificate granting the patent reads:

President of Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

Whereas a request for the grant of a utility model patent has been made by Ejikeme Patrick Nwosu.

For the sole use and advantage of an invention for: production of urine-based fertiliser and whereas the Federal Government being willing to encourage all invention which made be for public good, is please to accede to the request…[11]

Earlier in his undergraduate days, Patrick Nwosu isolated ammonia from human urine and explored a special theory of inorganic chemical reactions which abstracts of the processes where published by the American Chemical Society Book of Abstracts in 2005.[8][6] In 2011, he published a paper entitled “Special theory of toxicity: Toxic properties of electron discovered”. According to his findings explained in the paper, single electrons and lone pairs are the major sources of toxicity in elements and compounds.[12] He introduced a coined chemistry term, “atoxopy” as a process to treat some special cases of toxicity. The term, atoxopy, has been translated into Italian, Spanish, Filipino, Chinese and other languages.[13]

Patrick Nwosu also discovered that the vapor-like water that emanates from ice is another state of water different from vapor which emanates from hot water, because the icy vapor has a different mode of formation and temperature.[13]
