Eisenwald is a German independent record label based in Eisenach, Thuringia. Founded in 2005, the label features many black metal, death metal, and doom metal artists. The label is focused on a high level of artistry, through carefully packaged releases and vinyl record treatments, and does not try to limit itself to only extreme metal subgenres.[1]

History

Arising from the underground and below, the label was started in an attic by Nico Meyer in 2005. The first titles focused on small releases and merchandise before releases by Drudkh and Angantyr caught outsider attention. Moving to its current facilities in 2014, Eisenwald has released over 300 titles from bands including Agalloch, Fen (band), Netherbird, and more.[2]

In 2014, Eisenwald started a partnership with the Dutch black metal collective Haeresis Noviomagi with the release of Fluisteraars' Dromers full-length album. The label has released the majority of the collective's albums on various formats, with the exception of Lubbert Das.

In 2019, the label expanded into the United States with a second location based in Portland, Oregon,[3] where several Eisenwald artists originate.
