Dr. Valeem has altogether more than 35 years of experience earned in teaching/ research by working as Research Officer (BPS-17), Lecturer (BPS-17), Assistant Professor (BPS-18), Assistant Professor (BPS-19), and administrative experience earned by working as Section Officer (BPS-17), Assistant Director (BPS-17), Planning Officer (BPS-17), Chief Planning Officer (holding the charge of BPS-20 being an officer of BPS-17) in Education and Literacy Department, Agriculture Department, Implementation Department, Services & General Administration and Coordination Department and Planning and Development Department, Govt. of Sindh. He was Director, Institute of Marine Science, University of Karachi.
His research areas include Marine Science (Biological/ Physical Oceanography, Phycology & Phycochemistry, Algae Culture & Marine Resources); Agricultural Science (Plant Pathology & Mineral Nutrition); and Social Science (Applied Education, Community Development & Public Private Partnership). He has wirked with more than thirty M.Sc. students and supervising four M.Phil. and five Ph.D. students being HEC-approved supervisor.
His h-index = 19, i10-index = 36, and SCI = 1303. He has been shortlisted and interviewed for the posts of Vice Chancellor of four reputed universities e.g. Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Science, Uthal; University of Sindh, Jamshoro; University of Karachi, Karachi and Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST), Karachi.
