Edwin Kemp Attrill is a theatre artist and activist from Adelaide, South Australia[1]. His work is focused on interactive techniques and social justice themes, and has received multiple awards[2].
In 2011 Edwin became the Artistic Director of the University of Adelaide Theatre Guild[3], one of Australia's longest running amateur theatre companies. Edwin was the first Artistic Director of the Theatre Guild since Chris Drummond. [3]
Edwin was the co-founder and Artistic Director of ActNow Theatre, which he started when he was 17 years old[4]. ActNow Theatre originally created guerrilla style street theatre performances about social justice issues[5]. It eventually moved into staged work and community based projects, and became an industry leader in community arts and cultural development, and known for its “boal-ian” forum theatre to create interactive and issue based work. Under Edwin’s leadership ActNow Theatre receiving multiple awards and developed a secure financial position through federal and state funding[5]. In 2020 Edwin notified the ActNow Theatre Board that he would not be seeking to renew his contract, citing a focus on “the next stage of his career and professional development”.[6]
Edwin has received the following awards:

- Geoff Crowhurst Memorial Award for an individual contribution to community cultural development, 2015 South Australian Ruby Awards[8]
- Kirk Robson Award for Community Arts and Cultural Development, 2018 Australia Council for the Arts Awards[9]
- Carclew Creative Achievement Award, 2020 Channel 7 Young Achiever Awards[4]
