Editi Effiong is a Nigerian entrepreneur, screenwriter[4], director and producer. He is the founder of Anakle and CEO of Anakle Films.[5] He is known for Up North (2018), Fishbone (2020) Day of Destiny (2021) and The Black Book (2023), the first Nollywood produced film to rank number one on Netflix worldwide [6]. In September 2023, Effiong's Anakle Films released its Netflix acquired movie The Black Book.[7]

Early life and education

Effiong was born on 20 July 1983.[8] He is from Akwa Ibom State, Southern Nigeria. He graduated from University of Calabar where he earned a degree in Environmental Science.[8]

Career

At the start of his professional career, Effiong was the country manager for XEQ Technology and worked as the product manager for Thompson and Grace group before setting up Anakle in 2010 as a digital agency.[9] [10][11] In 2018, he transitioned into filmmaking and debuted his first movie titled Up North [12] under Anakle Films and subsequently released a short film - Fish Bone [13] and a feature movie titled The Black Book in 2023 [14] [15]

In an interview with Adedamola Adedayo of Culture Custodian, Effiong confirmed co-producing another Nollywood movie titled The Set Up which featured actors Adesua Etomi, Dakore Akande and Kehinde Bankole in the lead roles.[16] [17]

Activisim

Effiong was one of the promiment voices during the ENDSARS protests in Nigeria in the year 2020.[18] [19] [20] [21]
