Edgar Markosyan (born on July 10, 1997, Hrazdan, Kotayk Province, Republic of Armenia), Armenian soldier, Hero of Artsakh, hit 10 tanks of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Biography

  • Edgar Markosyan was born on July 10, 1997, in the Hrazdan city of Kotayk province to a pedagogue Anahit Saribekyan and engineer Edward Markosyan.[1]
  • In 2001-2003, Markosyan attended the local kindergarten.[1]
  • In 2003, Markosyan moved to Yerevan with his family.[1]
  • In 2004-2012, Markosyan studied in the Yerevan Basic School No. 78 after H. Hayrapetyan.[2]
  • In 2012-2014, Markosyan studied in the Yerevan High School No. 62 after T. Krpeyan.[1]
  • In April 2014, Markosyan transferred to the Yerevan High School No. 127 after L. Arisyan.[1]
  • In 2015, Markosyan graduated from high school and entered the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Faculty of Cybernetics of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia on a free basis. He received a deferral for 4 years in order to receive education.[1]
  • In 2019, Markosyan graduated from the university with excellent marks, received a bachelor's degree and entered a master's degree on a free basis.[1]
  • Refusing the right of deferment, Markosyan was conscripted into the Armed Forces as a conscript on July 17, 2019.[1]
  • From July 17-December 29, 2019, Markosyan served in the N military training unit of the Armed Forces located in Gyumri, Shirak province, Armenia.[1]
  • On December 27, 2019, after summarization of the results of the year in Gyumri, Markosyan was awarded the title of "Best Soldier of the Garrison" and was awarded an expensive watch by Mayor Samvel Balasanyan.[1]
  • On January 9, 2020, after completing the examination period of the training military unit with excellent marks, Markosyan received the rank of "Junior Sergeant."[1]
  • On January 10, 2020, to continue his service in the main military unit, Markosyan was transferred to the N military unit located in the Artsakh Republic as a junior commander.[1]
  • In September 2020, he received the military rank of "Sergeant."[1]
  • From September 27-October 12, 2020, Markosyan fought in the 2020 Armenian-Azerbaijani war.[1]
  • During the war, Markosyan hit 10 enemy tanks in the direction of Talish village, protecting the part entrusted to him.[1]
  • On October 12, 2020, he was taken to a military hospital with a spinal cord injury. [1]

Awards and titles

On October 4, 2020, by the decree of the President of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan, Edgar Markosyan was awarded the highest title of "Hero of Artsakh" of the Artsakh Republic, being awarded the "Golden Eagle" order. Edgar Markosyan hit 10 tanks in the direction of Talish during the 2020 Armenian-Azerbaijani war․[3]

Yerevan Basic School No. 78, where Markosyan studied, received a gold medal for raising a "Hero of Artsakh"․[2]
