Controversy

Chibaka’s work at Nyasa Times online publication drew the wrath of the former administration in Malawi led by Dr Bingu wa Mutharika who accused the publication of supporting his arch-mimesis Dr Bakili Muluzi in his bid to run for a third terms.[10]

Through Nyasa Times, it is believed that Chibaka published articles which exposed high level corruption, nepotism, and cronyism in the Mutharika administration including a story about the First Lady late Ethel Mutharika shopping in Paris, France amidst suffering masses in Malawi. He was later declared persona non grata and sought protection from the British Government after the UK High Commissioner to Malawi was deported.[10]
