Dustin Mikush

Dustin Mikush (born September 16, 1999 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Wadena, Saskatchewan. He is currently the lead on the Dallan Muyres men's curling team that competes on the World Curling Tour.

Curling career

Mikush first came onto the National scene in 2016 at the 2016 U18 International Curling Championships. Mikush played third on the Saskatchewan rink of Mitchell Dales, Mitchell Schmidt, and Braden Fleischhacker. With a 5-0 record in pool play, the team won the semi-final defeating Brett Walter of Manitoba and captured the gold medal defeating Quebec's Jesse Mullen in the final.

For the 2017-18 season, he moved to Alberta and joined the Ryan Jacques rink. The team captured the U18 Provincial Championship and would advance to the U18 Nationals. At the 2018 Canadian U18 Curling Championships, Jacques, Mikush, Dyck, and Henricks went 3-2 record in pool play, winning the A qualifier and a spot in the playoff semifinal. Team Alberta earned a spot in the final by defeating the defending U18 national champion, Northern Ontario Jacob Horgan, where the team lost to Graeme Weagle from Nova Scotia 10-6 in the gold medal game.[1]

As a junior curler, Mikush represented Alberta in 2019 playing third. Mikush, along with Desmond Young, Jacob Libbus, and Gabriel Dyck posted a 5-5 record at the 2019 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing 5th overall.[2] Mikush received the Fair Play Award at the Canadian Junior Curling Championship in 2019 as voted on by the event officials.

Mikush has been playing on the World Curling Tour since 2016. He lost the final of the 2018 Black Diamond / High River Cash to Thomas Usselman.[3] and won the 2022 SaskTel Curling Stadium SCT Players Championship.

Mikush played in his first Boston Pizza Cup, where his team narrowly missed the playoffs with a 2-3 record. Dustin would return to the provincial men's championship at the 2022 SaskTel Tankard once again narrowly missing the playoffs losing to the Colton Flasch rink in the C-Qualifier game.

Personal life

Mikush was a education student at the University of Alberta. He currently works as a Community Development Manager at Curlsask.
