Dupcheshwor Mahadev Temple , also known as the second Pashupatinath Temple is a popular pilgrimage for Hindu people of all over world is present at the remote location of nuwakot, at the bank of Taadi River. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Every year several couples visit the temple of Dupcheswor Mahadev in order to ask him for child. It is believed that on doing some rituals with pure heart and soul in this temple, the desire or the wish of having children comes true. The temple located on a remote and inaccessible cliff has not only contributed to the popularity of Shikharbensi, but the Nuwakot district as a whole.

Location

The temple is located at Nuwakot district of Nepal which is at a distance of 65 kilometers from the Capital of Nepal;Kathmandu.The temple is surrounded by forests and fast flowing river that comes from Rasuwa.The natives believe that Lord Shiva himself resides in that forest. The temple is surrounded by an astonishing view of mountains of the Himalayan Region of Nepal.

Early History

According to mythology, there are two legends that answer the origin of Dupcheshwor Mahadev. The first being about 400 years ago a Tamang boy lost his cow and he started to search for his Cow. Later he found that his cow was offering its milk to a strange Linga. He approached the linga and found it to be Dupcheshwor Mahadev. The second mythology says that After Lord Shiva had consumed KalKut Bish(Poison) in order to save the whole word from destruction, he decided to head towards Gosainkunda. On the way he stopped at the place where Linga of Dupcheswhor Mahadev currently is. The Linga originated in the same place where Lord Shiva had halted and later was named Dupcheshwor Mahadev.
