Duncan Raban (born 1960) is a British photographer known for his candid portraits of musicians and socially engaged street photography. His work includes behind-the-scenes documentation of prominent figures such as The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, and Grace Jones.
Early life and career
Raban began his photography career as a press photographer in the late 1970s, contributing to both British and American publications. He developed a documentary approach, often focused on capturing spontaneous and unguarded moments.

Music photography
Raban photographed The Rolling Stones during their 1982 tour of Ireland, and his images have since been featured in retrospectives.[1] In 1985, he captured behind-the-scenes moments of Tina Turner during her Private Dancertour,. Similar backstage portraits of Grace Jones have appeared in the Mirror.[2]
Social projects
In 2019, Raban launched Just Say Hello, a community-based photography initiative aimed at encouraging spontaneous human connection. The project gained national media attention, including features by BBC News[3] and The Argus.[4]
