Droeloe (stylized as DROELOE) is a Dutch interdisciplinary art duo consisting of producer Vincent Rooijers and visual designer Hein Hamers. They are best known for their singles "Running Away",[1] "Backbone",[2] and "Looking Back."[3]

Career

Vincent Rooijers had a musical upbringing and began rapping and making music at age 14. Hein Hamers began producing music at age 10 and was heavily influenced by hardstyle music. Hein developed an interest in visual design and studied image and media technology at Utrecht School of the Arts, where the duo met.[4]

Droeloe gained traction through their "Pokoe Pack" mixes uploaded through SoundCloud.[5] In Early 2016 the duo got the attention of San Holo, who encouraged them to release through his creative record label bitbird. They initially made their mark with the singles "Make My Day" and "ZzZ", the latter of which hit #1 on Hype Machine. They have garnered praise from artist Martin Garrix and received support from Trap Nation.

Droeloe's official remix of "We Don't Talk Anymore" by Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez has over 27 million Spotify streams as of April 2020.[6] The single "Wake the Warrior" released on bitbird quickly accumulated over 500,000 SoundCloud streams. They self-directed the accompanying music video, showcasing their film and creative design skills.[7][8]

Droeloe released on other labels, including Monstercat in 2016 with the single "Bon Voyage" that has accumulated over 5 million streams on Spotify,[9] and "In Time" in 2017 on Lowly Palace.[10]

In March 2017, Droeloe went on tour through North America with long-time mentor San Holo,[11] and together released "Lines of the Broken" featured on BBC Radio 1's Diplo & Friends.[12] Later that year, Droeloe released a five-track EP "A Moment In Time"[13][14] which included the hit track "Sunburn" which as of April 2020 has over 39 million streams on Spotify.[15] In July 2017, Droeloe's song "Jump" featuring Nevve was featured in an Apple Inc. advertisement for the Apple Watch Series 2.[16][17][18]

In 2018, they had additional releases including "Backbone" featuring Nevve, "Many Worlds", and an EP titled "The Choices We Face"[19] followed by a headline tour in the United States.[20]

In 2019, Droeloe teamed up with artists such as Zeds Dead for the track "Stars Tonight" and did a remix of Petit Biscuit's "We Were Young". They returned to their home label bitbird, releasing another EP "A Promise Is Made"[21] and then ventured on their "A Promise Is Made" headline tour across North America and Europe.[22][23][24]
