Drew Durnil (born 16 January 1994) is an American YouTuber known for his Reaction video|reaction videos focusing mainly on geography and history memes.[2]

Personal life

Drew was born on January 16, 1994 in the state of Alabama. He lived there for a few years before moving out to Los Angeles, California at young age with his family. He now lives somewhere in Orange County, California.[3][4] He dropped out twice from school. The first time was at University. Then he got to a community college, then again in university, then dropped out because he started prioritizing his channel more. At school, he went to photography programs, which was one of the major motivators for his YouTube channel.[5] He loves video editing and anything related to making videos. Drew has stated that photography was his original dream job.[3][6]

YouTube career

Drew's first appearance on YouTube is on his very first channel, Funnyforlike20. This channel was created on January 1, 2007 and the oldest public video dates from September 9, 2011. On it, Drew made short Comedy film|comedy films, notably the short series "Officer Sanchez" featuring his best friend and actual editor, Frank Sanchez. The channel is now inactive.[7] On February 28, 2013, Drew created a brand new channel which he would upload very different content from what he was doing previously. The oldest public video on it is from August 23, 2013 which is a Let's Play of Civilization V. In 2015, Drew started doing daily uploads where he played many historical strategy games such as Civilization or Europa Universalis. Durnil also uploaded a series called "A.I. ONLY" where he commented on A.I. players battling each other on Civilization V for hours straight.[8][3] Like his other content, he published those daily as a resume. In late 2017, Drew participated in a large 40 player lan party playing EU4 in the Castle Czocha.[9] He started slowly to leave gaming around 2018 and transformed himself as a reaction Youtuber. His content is now based on watching memes about history and geography, notably Countryballs. He possesses a subreddit which he sometimes reviews, but also reacts memes from other subreddits or YouTube. His gaming was instead transferred on his new second channel "DruuuWu".[10] Since October 2019, his friends Ricky Mulock and Frank Sanchez have edited his videos, and since May 2022 Natan Sanchez has replaced Ricky Mulock as an editor.[11] In 2022, Drew collaborated with Makeship, a toy company to release a series of vinyl figures.[12]
