Dreamland Falls
Template:Infobox television episode "Dreamland Falls'" is the tenth episode of the American adult animated television series Disenchantment (TV series). It was the last episode in the first part Disenchantment<nowicki/>'s first season. Philip J. Fry, Bender (Futurama) , and Professor Farnsworth, characters from another of creator Matt Groening's show, appear unvoiced in the episode in a quick cameo.[1] The episode was directed by Wes Archer and written by Bill Oakley.[2]
Plot
Queen Dagmar comes back to life and Dreamland rejoices as Bean and Zøg welcome her back into the kingdom. Bean, still grieving, begins to spend more time with Dagmar and the two grow close as both women begin to spend less time with Zøg. Oona is immediately angered by Dagmar taking her rightful place in the kingdom, and the two get into a fight at Elfo's funeral, knocking him into the water and out to sea.
Oona flees and meets with Odval while Zøg, fearing the safety of Derek, locks him in the castle's tower. Dagmar tells bean that she is part of a prophecy, and must fulfill her destiny, which begins to creep Bean out. Luci makes a surprising discovery and shows Zøg what he has found—evidence that the day Dagmar died, she was trying to poison Zøg tries to attack Dagmar, but she, while keeping Bean in another tower, floods the kingdom with a magical substance that turns every living thing into stone, leaving only Zøg alive. Luci is captured and Dagmar and Bean leave Dreamland on a boat.
In a post-credits scene, Elfo's corpse washes onto shore and is retrieved by mysterious figures.[3]
Production
Tie-ins
In the middle of the episode, when Luci makes a shocking discovery about the true identity of Queen Dagmar, he immediately goes to tell King Zøg what he finds. He uses the castle's magic crystal ball to rewind time to show Zøg the events of a day years ago, but, while rewinding time, Futurama characters Philip J. Fry, Bender (Futurama), and Professor Farnsworth appear shortly in their forward-going time machine from the episode "The Late Philip J. Fry." This confirms that all three of Groening's shows, Disenchantment (TV series), Futurama, and The Simpsons take place in the same universe, due to the Futurama tie-in episode with The Simpsons, "Simpsorama."[4]

The episode was released with the rest of Disenchantment (season 1) on August 17, 2018. Production took place under the code 1DNT10.[5]
Reception
Den of Geek criticized the cliffhanger at the end of the season, saying that it not only crams in too many cliffhangers, but that "the writers seem to have confused leaving viewers in suspense with leaving them befuddled as a lot of these unanswered questions are extremely open-ended."[6] The A.V. Club called the cliffhanger "destructive" and said that the episode ended on a "dour" note.[7]Reviews on Reddit, on the other hand, either praised the episode or were indifferent, commenting on other details of the show.[8]
