Dr. Lovely Sharma is an Indian sitar maestro. Born in Uttar Pradesh, India, Prof. Lovely Sharma was introduced to playing Sitar at the age of 15 by Mrs. Veena Chandra. At the age of 18 she had the privilege to be trained under – Shri Kalyan Lahari, Sitarist, disciple of the Manilal Nag of Kolkata. She is Gold Medallist in M.A.(Music) from Agra University and First bronze winner in the competition of 1981. She was awarded Ph.D. by The Baroda University in 1986 and is disciple of Pt Brij Bhushan Kabra, the famous Indian classical slide guitar player. She has been Vice Chancellor, Raja Mansingh Tomar Music & Arts University, Gwalior (M.P.) and is D.Litt in Music, from Agra University.

She is Kala Bhushan Awardee, as well as an Empanelled Sitarist of All India Radio - Delhi, and ICCR, Ministry of External Affairs - Delhi, She has performed at several destinations including the US and many countries of Europe and Asia. At present She is Professor in Sitar in Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra.

Her Guru

Pt Brij Bhushan Kabra was deciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and was famous Guitar player who introduced playing Hindustani Classical rags on Guitar. Prof. Lovely Sharma got her basic preliminary training from Shri K.C. Lahiri (Agra), Mrs.Veena Chandra (USA), Gulam Husain Khan (Ahmedabad) and N.R. Rao (Bangalore). Later on, She came under the tutelage of the world-renowned Guitarist Pt Brij Bhushan Kabra of Jodhpur,Rajasthan.
