Dr. Kasia Sterriker (born September 15, 1982) is a well-known European Environmental Artist and talented Biophilic Designerwho works and exhibits in London, Dubai, Paris, and Geneva.[1]

Her early career as an academic and scientist focussed on providing successful patented solutions to sustaining plants over long journeys and enhancing their growth cycles. However, being the holder of two PhDs, one in Environmental Engineering and one in Landscape Architecture, she is both anArtist and a Scientist, which means that she has an almost unique ability to combine scientific knowledge and artistic talent to create sustainable living works of art that transform the environments into which they are installed.[2]

Additionally, Dr. Kasia Sterriker is a philanthropic educationalist who works with non-profit organizations and schools to educate about environmental architecture and environmental psychology. As a horticulture therapist, she has contributed a great deal of her time to different voluntary work in hospices.[3]

Dr. Kasia Sterriker's creations are popular worldwide, especially in Europe, where she has also shared her knowledge, expertise and creativity via TV and radio presentations as well as their presentation in innumerable European exhibitions.[4]

Early life

Dr. Kasia Sterriker arrived in this world on September 15, 1982, in Wroclaw, Poland. Born into a household steeped in Artistic, Horticultural and Environmental knowledge, with a distinguished Environmental Engineer for a grandfather and an International Bonsai Master and educator for a father, she was always destined to create waves in the world of Environmental Art.

She believes that it is her great fortune to have her father and grandfather because these two strong pillars gave her the energy to find her style and inspired her career path. The work of her father, WlodekPietraszkois at the root of the art coming from this talented artist as she has experienced and been practicing bonsai art since childhood. It is this knowledge and experience that forms the foundation upon which she has built her own style of Environmental Art which goes beyond the rigid rules of bonsai to produce a modern fusion of these ancient far eastern arts with the contemporary techniques, materials and a wholly more open and creative approach to working with these organic materials.

Education

Dr. Kasia Sterriker has loved art and science since her childhood. So when choosing her career, she could not choose between art and science. As a result, she chose both! which resulted in her achieving her two PhDs. During her time in academia she not only supported her university (and the world of horticulture) by developing a number of valuable patents, she also gained valuable real world experience by joining infrastructure projects for town and city planning, including the building of motorways.

Career

After successfully finishing her two PhDs, she transitioned to the design and property development industry, and in 2014 she moved to the UK to gather more international experience for her career life diary.[5]

Dr. Kasia was fortunate to work for many reputed institutions and high net-worth individuals in London, Paris, Geneva, Zurich, and Brussels to successfully complete their design projects and property developments that included created fabulous indoor and outdoor living spaces in the homes of some interesting world-famous personalities that enabled her to further develop the application of her rapidly developing ability to create innovative environmental art. These projects provided great opportunities for her to showcase her talent and skills and led to a very successful career working within a highly exclusive market for extremely demanding clients with high expectations of the living spaces that they expected to be created for them. Expectations that Kasia never failed to meet and to surpass.

In recent years, Dr. Kasia Sterriker and her husband, Paul Sterriker,took the successful decision to work on their own property development and transformation projects. Encouraged and enthused by this experience and her previous work, in 2021 she decided to dedicate more of her time to Environmental Art and where possible to collaborate with her father, Wlodek Pietraszko.[6]

In addition, having spent a considerable amount of time over the past few years in the United Arab Emirates, they made the decision to relocate to Dubai and to take on the challenge of introducing the UAE and the wider region to Kasia’s unique form of Environmental Art.

She is now focussed on creating a new portfolio of work made from materials that will thrive in the region, and she hopes to display it in Dubai towards the latter part of 2023.

Artistic works

The artistic form of Dr. Kasia Sterriker‘s work is constantly developing. Her aim is to evolve her art and works based on ideas that are able to optimize the use of organic materials. Because as a Biophilic designer, Dr. Kasia Sterriker always needs to create appealing art that pays tribute to nature. She believes that an optimized aesthetic has the ability to improve the physical and mental health of the souls who dwell within it. It is not only her belief but also the universal truth. Art can heal souls.
