Dr. Hiralal Alawa (born 28 May, 1982) is Indian political activist and doctor serving as the representative of the Manawar constituency in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.[1][2] He is the convener and national president of Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti (JAYS)[3][4][5], a tribal rights advocacy group. A medical doctor by training, Alawa has been an assistant professor of rheumatology at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences[6] (AIIMS), New Delhi.[7]

Early life and education

Dr. Hiralal Alawa was born on 28 May 1982 in the village Bhaislai of district Dhar, Madhya Pradesh to a family of Bhil tribes community. His mother Mrs. Ganga Alawa is an Anganwadi worker and father Mr. Nansingh Alawa has retired as the Principal of Middle School, near Bhaislai. Hiralal Alawa attended Beginning school and higher secondary education in Kukshi, in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. After completing higher secondary education, he took admission for MBBS. After completing MBBS from Shyamshah Medical College, Rewa in 2006-07, he worked as radio doctor in remote tribal area in Madhya Pradesh. In 2009, he enrolled in Gajraraja Medical College, Gwalior for the degree of MD General Medicine, where he also contested the election of the Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) and was elected to the post of vice-president. In 2012, earning a degree of MD General Medicine he was selected as Senior Resident at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi for 3 years. At the same time, in the year 2016, he served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Rheumatology for almost a year. The politicking was a far cry from the JAYS chief’s primary profession. Alawa, himself a tribal, was a doctor at AIIMS in New Delhi before he resigned in December 2016 and returned home. The native of Dhar district, he began working with fellow tribals, offering them free medicine and treatment[8]. In the year 2018, he was elected MLA from Manawar Assembly constituency|Manawar assembly constituency of Madhya Pradesh. He was married to Jagriti Dhruv in May 2022.
