Donovan Austin Nicholas is an American murderer who was convicted at the age of 14 of the murder his step mother, Heidi Fay Talyor, Nicholas claimed that he was influenced by the Creepypasta character Jeff the Killer saying "it was Jeff, he's inside me".
Early life
Donovan was born in Urbana, Ohio on July 9th, 2002 to Noah Shane Nicholas and an unknown mother.[1]
Jeff the Killer
Jeffery Woods better known as Jeff the Killer is a fictional serial killer who first appeared on the Internet in 2008 and was created by a user known only as Sesseur, Jeff was a normal teenager until he got covered in bleach and vodka and lit on fire resulting in his skin turning white and his hair charred black.[2]
Murder and arrest
On April 6, 2017[3] Donovan called out for his mother to draw her attention, he then hugged her and proceeded to stab her 60 times with a kitchen knife, Heidi fell to the floor and attempted to crawl away, Donovan then retrieved his father 9mm handgun and shot her once in the head. Donovan then call 911 and confessed to the murder although claimed that it was not him but Jeff reportedly saying "it wasn't me who, who, it wasn't me who killed her. It was Jeff."[4]
Conviction
Donovan Nicholas entered a long legal battle over his age and his mental sanity, which ended in Nicholas getting a life sentence with the possibility of parole, however in 2022 a narrow 4-3 decision lead to Donovan being released on his 21st birthday, and on July 9th 2023 he was released.
