Early life and education
Donnie Fresh was born on May 3rd, 1997, and grew up in New Orleans, LA. He began dabbling in music at the age of seven and began writing and composing songs by the age of ten. Donnie was influenced by Cash Money Millionaires, Master P, John Mayer, and B.B. King as a child, but he also experimented with other genres such as classic rock and country.
Later, after the devastating Hurricane Katrina hit his hometown, Donnie and his family relocated to Houston, TX, in 2005. Once Donnie got to Houston he dropped his first mixtape called “The Come Up” in 2011. He also recorded several other mixtapes and sold them at his school for $10 to help his mother with bills.
Career
Donnie started his career as a music professional in 2017 with the release of his debut song Never Going Back. This song launched his career and drew in a large number of fans who appreciated the laid-back music style and smooth R&B hooks. In 2019, his hit track "Waiting For" grew in popularity in nations such as the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica, among others. This helped to expand the brand's reach and fan base to a wider audience.[3]
Donnie Fresh released his first EP, What Happened Last Thursday, in 2020, which included the highly anticipated track Truth Is.[4] This song was composed on the day Donnie's grandma died, and it takes you through all of the emotions Donnie and his family had to go through. This EP also features "Farewell Letter," a song about the real-life relationship issues he had. Donnie Fresh recently published "Tales of Motel 6," a ten-song album. His singles "Numb" and "Slabs in Screwston," featuring Lil Flip and Elevator Jay, are included on this album. Donnie hit over 1.4 Million Streams on Tales of Motel 6.
