Dominic LaPerriere is an American film editor born in California. LaPerriere is known for his latest work on the film Honey Boy, and was the recipient of the Special Jury Award for Vision and Craft in the U.S. Dramatic competition at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.[1][2]

Career

Dominic LaPerriere earned his BA in film studies from University of California, Berkeley. LaPerriere's passion for editing then led him to New York, where he continued to perfect his craft as an assistant editor at an editorial company. Along the way, LaPerriere gained valuable opportunities to work with prolific editors such as Saar Klein and Hank Corwin.[3]

Before long, LaPerriere's resume and status as an editor began to grow exponentially. He worked on numerous feature films that were premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, including: Fishing Without Nets, The Free World, and Dayveon.[4] These accomplishments ultimately guided LaPerriere toward the well-received film Honey Boy, written by Shia LaBeouf and directed by Alma Har'el.[5] LaPerriere collaborated with Monica Salazar during this project, and they were praised for their unusual, yet innovative, editing process.[6]
