Dmitrijs Šiholajs (born October 27, 1983) is a Latvian boxing and kickboxing coach.
He is best known as the trainer of the three-time cruiserweight world champion Mairis Briedis and the WBO European light-heavyweight champion Ričards Bolotņiks.
Biography
In early life Šiholajs was a kickboxer and an amateur boxer having become a five-time Latvian champion and three-time Russian champion in kickboxing and two-time Latvian champion in boxing until he suffered a career ending spine injury at the age of 21. Šiholajs returned to sports after a 6 year long hiatus when he turned to work as a trainer at the age of 27. [1].
In 2018 he started working with Mairis Briedis[2] with whom he has won the World Boxing Organization, International Boxing Federation and The Ring (magazine) cruiserweight titles while also winning the World Boxing Super Series Cruiserweight (boxing).
