The Digital Dentistry Society (DDS) is an international scientific society dedicated to the advancement of digital dentistry. It was founded by a group of dentists and researchers in 2015 to promote scientific progress and the development of treatments using digital technologies in dentistry and oro-maxillofacial fields. DDS is constituted according to the Swiss norms on associations and is listed on the Cantonal list of tax exemption, being registered as a non-profit organization.[1]

Mission and Objectives

The society was established to set and improve the evidence base for digital dental procedures and to provide a support network for dental health professionals navigating digital technologies. As a professional association, DDS connects dental professionals, researchers, and innovators worldwide to foster global collaboration in the new, interdisciplinary field of digital dentistry. Moreover, DDS aims to benefit patients by supporting scientific research, organizing educational activities, and facilitating collaborations with companies across all fields of digital dentistry, incentivizing the awareness of the greater public for topics of oral care, digitizalization of the dental profession, and access to high-quality dental treatments based on a set of commonly accepted and validated best practices.[2]

Activities

Through partnerships with universities, scientific societies, and industry leaders, DDS drives innovation, research, and education in emerging areas including artificial intelligence-driven technologies, 3D printing, advanced imaging systems, CAD/CAM software, and mixed reality applications.[3]

DDS organizes the annual DDS Global Congress (or State of the Art Conference, depending on the year), a relevant scientific events in the digital dentistry community, featuring leading clinical experts and researchers discussing innovative digital technologies and established clinical procedures. The Society also publishes the DDS Magazine, a quarterly clinical-focused publication, and collaborates with the Journal of Dentistry (Elsevier) and the Digital Dentistry Journal.[4]

The society offers both free and active membership tiers, providing access to educational resources, e-learning platforms with resources accessible to members, scientific conferences, workshops, and networking opportunities with global experts.
