Diego Atterbury (born 31 August 1993) is a South African–Australian football coach currently serving as head coach of Kingborough Lions United FC’s NPL Under 21 team in Hobart, Tasmania. He previously led Taroona Football Club to a second-place finish in the 2025 Southern Championship.[1].

Early Life and Playing Career

Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Atterbury immigrated to Melbourne, Australia at age 16. He played for Doncaster Rovers U21s in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 (NPL2) before retiring from competitive football to pursue tertiary studies.

Coaching Career

Atterbury began his coaching journey in 2023 with South Hobart FC, initially leading the club’s U17 academy team. In 2024, he was promoted to coach South Hobart’s Championship 1 squad. In October 2024, Taroona FC announced Atterbury as head coach for the 2025 season [2].
