Dianne McKeever is an American activist investor, entrepreneur, and the Co-founder, Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and Managing Partner of Ides Capital Management LP, a New York-based investment advisory firm specializing in impact-focused activist investing. McKeever is recognized for her contributions to corporate governance, shareholder advocacy, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.[1][2]
Early Life and Education
McKeever was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, where her family owned and operated a small consumer chemical manufacturing business. She attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. McKeever earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from New York University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology. Later, she obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Fordham University School of Law.
Career
McKeever began her career in 2001 at Barington Capital Group, a New York-based activist investment fund, where she was the firm’s first analyst and eventually became its youngest partner. Her work focused on value investment opportunities in small and mid-capitalization companies, emphasizing governance improvements and long-term value creation.[3]
In 2011, she joined Park Row Capital as a partner, further honing her expertise in activist investing.[4]
In 2015, McKeever co-founded Ides Capital Management LP, where she currently serves as CIO and Managing Partner. The firm engages with corporate management teams and boards to advocate for operational, capital, and strategic improvements, integrating ESG principles to enhance sustainable value for stakeholders.[5]
McKeever has served as a director on the boards of public companies, including LQ Corporation Inc. and Sielox Inc., where she chaired the Nominating and Governance Committee. She was also a member of the Council of Institutional Investors' Corporate Governance Advisory Council from 2019 to 2022.[6]
McKeever serves on the Women’s Board of City Year New York and is a founding board member of Pyroclastic Arts Inc. She is also an advocate for ESG practices and actively participates in forums and initiatives to promote responsible investing.[7]
