Diane Johnson Flynn is an American business executive, author, and advocate for workplace diversity.[1] She is the co-founder and CEO of ReBoot Accel, a company focused on fostering inclusive work cultures and helping women re-enter the workforce. She has co-authored two books, including "50 Questions Inclusive Leaders Ask" and "The Upside: Better Outcomes when Everyone Plays." She is a sought-after speaker and coach on diversity, leadership, and the future of work.[2][3]
Early life and education
Flynn was born and raised in Minnesota. She moved to California to attend Stanford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Career
Flynn began her career at The Boston Consulting Group as an associate consultant. She then transitioned to the technology industry, serving as Vice President of Business Development at Electronic Arts and later as Chief Marketing Officer of GSVlabs. During her time at GSVlabs, she gained significant experience in marketing and business development for high-growth technology ventures.[4]
Flynn co-founded ReBoot Accel in 2015, a company that offers training, connections, and confidence-building programs to assist women in reentering the workforce after career breaks.[5] Under her leadership, ReBoot Accel has developed partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and startups, aiming to improve diversity and innovation in the workplace. In addition to Silicon Valley, the company operates in six other U.S. cities and has helped over 1,000 women resume or shift careers, with 82% of participants securing meaningful work.[6]
Flynn consults with companies on gender diversity and inclusive leadership. She has facilitated workshops at Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Modern Elder Academy, and 1440 Multiversity. Flynn is also a board member for organizations such as Avidbank, Resurge International, and MixR, and she has previously served on the boards of Sacred Heart Schools and Santa Lucia Preserve.[7][8]
Flynn is an active public speaker on gender diversity, ageism, and inclusive work practices.[9] She has been featured on media outlets such as The Today Show, NBC's Morning Joe, ABC News, and NPR.
As a published author, Flynn has written two books, including “50 Questions Inclusive Leaders Ask,” which provides a practical guide for fostering inclusion in the workplace. In March 2020, she released “The Upside: Better Outcomes when Everyone Plays,” which explores the business case for gender diversity and offers strategies for leveraging diverse talent.[10]
