Devi Shankar Tiwari was an Indian independence activist who played an important role in the creation of modern Rajasthan. He was the President of Jaipur Praja Mandal movement and the first Education and Health Minister of Jaipur from 1946 to 1949. He established many educational institutions in Rajasthan and was a strong advocate of women’s education. He served in the Rajasthan Public Service Commission from 1949 till 1958, including serving as its Chairman from 1952 to 1958. As the Chairman of Urban Improvement Trust from 1958 till 1962, he planned the development of various precincts, residential schemes, parks, road infrastructure and markets. [1][2][3]
