Deven Lavale Purifoy (born February 27th, 1983), popularly known as Mr. Hollywood[1][2] and Deven Powers is an American serial entrepreneur, TV host, journalist, music artist, and model.[3] He is the founder of the Black Film Festival Los Angeles, In God We Trust Records, The Mr. & Ms. Hollywood Magazines Franchises, CNTV Hollywood, and Discover My Music Radio.[4] He also serves as the host of The LA Live Film Festival.[5]

Powers is best known for his songs Night-Time, I Got California Love, My Everything, Hussle Man,[6][7] and JAMES BROWN. He is regarded as one of the genre's most prolific artists specializing in R&B.[8] Powers is also a renowned model and has been the face of several leading magazines like Splash Magazine and Star Magazine.[9][10]

Powers is also a highly popular TV host and has hosted a number of red carpet events along with his compilation The Mr. Hollywood Tv Show.[11] He has also had appearances on The Verdict with Judge Hatchett.[12][13]

Early life and education

Powers was born on February 27th, 1983 in San Bernardino California. He is the 10th of 14 children. His father was a Pastor and his mother is a great gospel singer. Powers was inclined towards music since he was a kid. When he was 9 years old, Powers began playing drums, and by the age of 13 got his first drum set. During this time he became a California State drummer in his church congregation.

Powers completed his high school education at Rancho Verde High School and Val Verde High School. During this time he was also a member of the marching band. He then went to San Bernardino Valley College.

Career

Powers has become one of the fastest-growing individuals in the entertainment industry with a diverse portfolio. He has made many successful strides as a model, musician, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Black Film Festival Los Angeles, which acknowledges the achievements of people belonging to the Black Diaspora in the entertainment industry.[14]

Apart from that, Powers has also kick-started several other ventures of his own such as In God We Trust Records, The Mr. & Ms. Hollywood Magazines Franchises, CNTV Hollywood, and Discover My Music Radio.[15] As of 2021, he also serves as the host of The LA Live Film Festival.[16]

Throughout his career, Powers has taken up numerous projects both as a model and a host. He has been the face of Dark Magazine,[17] The Buzz Magazine,[18] The Global Millionaire, and Stardom 101 Magazine to name a few. Not only that he is also an up-and-coming actor.[19] Powers has also released two R&B music albums till now with a couple of singles.[20]

As of 2021, Powers is working on several other projects in Hollywood along with pursuing his musical career.[21][22]
