Dennis McCuistion is an American business executive, educator, writer, and television host best known for his program on PBS.[1]
Career
In 1977, he founded the financial consulting firm, McCuistion & Associates.[2] A former bank CEO, McCuistion joined his first for-profit board in the early 1970s.[3] Since that time, he has served on private, public, and not-for-profit boards and, since 2003, has served on the board and audit committees of two New York Stock Exchange companies and one on the American Stock Exchange. One of those companies, UICI, was sold in a private equity buyout for $1.6 billion in 2006.[4]
McCuistion served on special committees investigating stock option backdating and the eventual firing of the CEO and CFO at Affiliated Computer Services,[5][6] a business process outsourcing company later sold to Xerox.[7] In 2014, he served as the interim CEO of the National Center for Policy Analysis.[8][9]
McCuistion was a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors where he was a Governance Fellow,[10] has served on the faculties of several graduate schools of management, and written three books about the financial services field.[11] He was a professor of corporate governance at the University of Texas at Dallas[12] as well as serving as the Executive Director of the Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance at the university.[13]
He is the host of an award-winning[14] television program on PBS, "McCuistion",[15] since 1990.[16][17] In that role, his interviews have included the topics of politics,[18] economic,[19] business, and social issues.[20]
In 2022, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Governance Advocacy as part of the Outstanding Directors Awards from the Dallas Business Journal.[21]
Background
McCuistion graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in banking and finance along with a Master of Liberal Arts.[22] He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by Northwood University in 2010.[23]
