Early Life

Demetrius Ramone Ross, born on April 2, 1967, in Atchison, Kansas, United States, is an American musician, recording artist, songwriter, rap vocalist, and entertainment manager. Ross, also known as Sir Jam, was raised in a large musical family that played and performed gospel music. Ross attended Atchison High School, where he participated in the school's music program and further developed his talents. Later, still in high school, Ross moved to Montbello, a suburb of Denver, Colorado, where he continued to pursue his passion for music. Ross joined a local rap group called The Legion of Doom, who were well known in Denver in the mid-to-late 1980s. He also played in several local bands around town.

Career

Demetrius “Sir Jam” Ross has had a multifaceted career as a writer, record producer, recording engineer, and remixer, in addition to being a recording artist. Ross began his professional career as a recording artist, working with various musicians and producers. He gained significant recognition when he was knighted "Sir Jam" by Prince and the New Power Generation. Over the years, Ross has collaborated with numerous notable artists.

In 1992, Ross co-founded Rojam Records with business partner Roland Michael in Beverly Hills, California. The company later relocated to Austria and found success as a production duo under the name of POF. In the early 2000s, Ross co-founded Smash Entertainment with Dino Delvaille, former vice-president of Sony's Urban Music Division, and business entrepreneur Thomas Page. Ross currently works with music executive Kevin Evans and is a managing partner at Jam and Hustle Management with Joey Rosario.

DREAM Learning Center

Ross established the DREAM Learning Center, a foundation dedicated to supporting music and the arts in public schools and the community. DREAM is an acronym for Dance-Recording-Entertainment-Art-Music and serves children aged 4 to 18. The advisory board members include Big Jon Platt, Amir Bayyan of Kool & the Gang, Sheila E., Adolfo "Shabba-Doo" Quinones, Pam Baker, Kurtis Blow, Dino Delvaille, Kenneth "Skeeter" Yould, David Lestrick, Juliana Danson, Donnell Smith, Alicia Livingston, Michele Blay, Brandon Williams, and Shelli Johnson. The foundation aims to harness the power of technology to teach children entertainment-related skills.
