Dennis L. Buecker is an American Educator He is the co-founder of the Ride Accross California (RAC) bicycle ride with fellow educator Mike Fickel. The ride is intended for 5th graders and their parents. The inaugural ride was in 1991, and since then, over 15,000 people have participated.
Occuring each year during Spring Break, the ride goes from the Colorado River near Yuma, Arizona and ends one week later at the Pacific Ocean. Participants ceremoniously dip their back tire in the Colorado River, and proceed to ride across the desert, up the mountains separating San Diego, California from the desert, and end with a ceremonial dip of the front tire in the Pacific Ocean at various spots in San Diego County.
