Dean David (born September 22, 1984) is an Puerto Rican singer, model, actor, and songwriter. David is proficient across several subgenres of urban music including Reggaeton, Rap, Hip Hop, R & B, and Others. He has been regarded as one of the most influential up-and-coming music artists best known for his songs No Me Llores, No Se, Remember, and Mueve Tu Cuerpo.[1]

Since his debut in the music industry, he has significantly contributed to creating versatile music compositions gaining recognition for his lyrics that reflect the concerns and feelings of young people.

Early life and education

David was born on September 22, 1984, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. His mother Nirvia Rosario was an English teacher and his father Luis Santiago was an actor in multiple series and movies. David lost his 14-year-old brother, Steven Charles due to an aneurysm, due to which David suffered a huge emotional setback leading him into depression. At the age of 17, David was shot in the head on the streets of Ponce, Puerto Rico. He remained in a coma for 3 days and was hospitalized for over a month. It took him over a year to heal, and this was the time when he started writing about his feelings and composing music. For the next 5 years, he spent time listening to the stories of other gun violence victim-survivors and began overcoming the trauma underwent.

In 2017, post his recovery, David joined the United States army. He served the army for 10 years until 2017 and has been credited with several awards during his service.

Career

Since a young age, David pioneered incorporating his life experience into his music compositions. With his unique style, reflecting the feelings and concerns of young people, David released his first single Mueve Tu Cuerpo in 2018. The same year he released two more singles Solo Una Noche, and A Quien No Le Gustan Ias Putas?. Following his releases, he gained notoriety and recognition for his compositions across several genres such as reggaeton, rap, hip-hop, and R&B. His songs are streaming on all major music platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes.
