David Loomis Cargill (1959 - June 9, 1998) was the last person to be executed by electric chair in the state of Georgia[1] and was a criminal convicted of robbing and shooting a couple to death on January 22, 1985 at a service station whose names were Danny and Cheryl Williams (aged 29 and 41). Along with his brother Tommy Cargill, who will later be sentenced to life imprisonment]]. After shooting them, they went to a fast food place, after that they put the gun used to murder the Williams' in a plastic bag and hid it under a dog house. The gun had no fingerprints on it, but it was bought by David Cargill. On February 13, 1985, Tommy Cargill and his brother David Cargill were arrested by the authorities, after David Cargill's former wife, Brenda Mathis Cargill overheard his plan to rob people with his brother Tommy Cargill. The next day, Brenda had seen a possible link between the murders of the Williams', and right after that she went to Tommy’s house and threatened to call the police on him if he didn't tell her where David is, but Tommy refused saying that Brenda is only making things worse. Then Brenda went to the police about David Cargill and Tommy Cargill. Then the police had arrested both David Cargill and Tommy Cargill, and then had interrogated David Cargill about the murders, then David Cargill had admitted to murdering both of the Williams'. At a trial in 1985, a Muscogee County jury found him guilty of Armed Robbery and 2 counts of Murder, and sentenced him to die by electrocution on June 9, 1998.[2] On June 9, 1998, David Cargill was executed by electric chair at 7:00 P.M. UTC-5, Georgia Diagnostic and Classification State Prison.
