David Mora (born January 15, 1984), known professionally as David King, is an American record producer, songwriter and photographer. He has produced for artists like Glasses Malone "Rihanna"[1], Jay Rock "Dollars Make Sense"[2], Crooked I "Beautiful Murder"[3], Mack 10 "Winnin'", Trinidad James, E-40 and Honey Cocaine "Side Bitch"[4] to name a few.
In 2019, he released an instrumental album titled "Dopamine: The Instrumentals" featuring an intro by Glasses Malone.
Early life and career
David was raised in Long Beach, California in a musically inclined household and played guitar as a child. He began producing beats at age 16 when he was still in high school using FL Studio. He primarily produced songs for friends or people he had networked with. It wasn't until after high school that he began to take it seriously. At age 22 he was able to get a record with and eventually meet Glasses Malone. Through this he met Thomas "Rated TG" Torres, another producer and engineer, that was working with Malone at the time and became friends. The two began working together and through this friendship many more records landed with big artists.
He made the decision to transition to a "producer-artist," as Billboard describes it, in order to have more control and release music on his own timeline, instead of being dependent on the artists in the song. In 2018 due to a computer failure he lost all music he had previously made. Instead of letting the songs he had go to waste he decided to put out a mixtape. In 2019 he released his first mixtape, Dopamine: The Instrumentals[5].
In 2017 David purchased his first camera. A Canon EOS 7D Mark II. He used photography as an outlet when going through musical slumps or "beat block" as producers call it. He began by taking portraits of people on the street and soon after began attending photography events. After building up his skill and portfolio he began to gain the attention of agencies and companies looking for the talents of a photographer. He has done several model shoots for agencies as well as Lookbook's for several apparel companies such as FGE Clothing and Long Beach Clothing. He has started gaining more attention for his photography and often noted for being successful in both fields of work.
In 2020 with the effects of covid affecting many industries David decided to try and turn another hobby of his into something more successful. He started streaming himself playing video games. With the success of services like Twitch, Youtube gaming and Facebook Gaming he decided to put it to work. He now has one of the few channels that consists of everything he does. You can catch him working on music one day and photography or games the next
