David Adeyemo Adeola (born April 21, 1993) is a Nigerian-born American weightlifting athlete, soldier, and USA Weightlifting sports performance coach. He is a gold medalist for weightlifting in the 2010 Junior African Championship in Egypt, the 2011 Commonwealth Championship in South Africa, and a multiple gold medalist in the Nigeria National Sports Festival

Biography

Adeola was born on April 21, 1993, in Nigeria. After completing his early education, Adeola became interested in weightlifting, and then started representing Nigeria in international weightlifting competitions by participating in the 2011 Junior Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in South Africa.

In 2010, he acquired a gold medal in the Junior African Weightlifting Championship held in Egypt and then received a gold medal again in the Commonwealth Championship held in South Africa the following year. He was promoted from grade 08 to grade 10 by the governor of Bayelsa State[1], Nigeria, Henry Dickson, at the Sports Festival Reception Party in 2012. In the same year, Adeola won another gold medal in the Lagos State Nigerian Championship[2].

After moving to the United States, David joined the US Army, he was accepted into the US Army Warrior Fitness Program, and represented the US Army in national and international competitions. David also attended American Military University and received a bachelor’s degree in public health. In 2013, he quit representing Nigeria in international weightlifting competitions and later stated his reasons in an interview conducted by ACLSports[3] in 2014.

Adeola was appointed as a coach to the Kenyan National Weightlifting Team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Scotland. He has coached several athletes, including Mercy Obiero, James Adede, and Stephen Opondo. David then attended Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California, and acquired a master’s degree. In addition, he published his books; A measure of my Treasure: Poems of Wisdom and Knowledge in 2021, Vision Beyond Sight: A Champion's Journey to Love[4] in 2023, Echoes of Legends: Poems of Timeless Icons[5] in 2023, and Fine Bobo: A Lagos Tale of Tenacity & Triumph[6] in 2023

As of 2023, David is serving as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, a sports performance coach at USA Weightlifting, and the operator of the health and lifestyle blog website Healthwise Fellas[7].
