Dave Rosenbaum is an American producer, director, and screenwriter who is the Chief Creative Officer at Cinesite and Aniventure.[1] His recent contributions to the animation industry include notable projects such as "Blazing Samurai," "The Addams Family" (parts 1 and 2), "Cracké Family Scramble," and "Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank."[2]
Rosenbaum has previously served as the Vice President of Talent for Illumination Entertainment, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing artists and stories for blockbuster franchises like "Despicable Me," "Secret Life of Pets," and "Sing."
Early life
David Lawrence Rosenbaum was born on January 22, 1977 in Washington, DC. His parents Barbara (Loberg) and Lawrence Rosenbaum met working on Capitol Hill across opposite sides of the political aisle. Barbara worked for US Representative Joseph Karth and Lawrence eventually became Comptroller of the Small Business Administration and was awarded Meritorious Presidential Rank Awards by Presidents from two different parties, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Dave's maternal grandfather, Jerome L. Loberg (US Army, TEC 5, WWII) was a union organizer and political activist who worked for the AFL-CIO and upon his death, was eulogized by then Vice President, Hubert Humphrey.[3]
Dave attended the University of Richmond in Virginia on the Welsh Theatre Scholarship and received the dual degrees of B.S. in Business Administration and B.A. in Theatre. He graduated with honours receiving the H. G. Quigg Award, the E. Bruce Heilman Award and the University's top honour, the University Mace Award.
Dave received his Master's Degree in Producing from The American Film Institute. His film mentors include Sid Ganis, Chris Meledandri, Warren Franklin, Peter Nagle, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Melissa Cobb and Marcia Lucas.
Career
In 2016, David Rosenbaum assumed the role of Chief Creative Officer at Cinesite,[4] a distinguished VFX and animation service studio with divisions in London, Montreal, and Vancouver. The studio holds a production output deal with Aniventure, an IP production company, resulting in an exclusive collaboration delivering nine films in the next four years. Rosenbaum serves on the board of Aniventure.[5]
Rosenbaum is the writer and director of "Riverdance: The Animated Adventure" (2021), an adaptation of the global stage sensation featuring Grammy-winning music by Bill Whelan and starring Pierce Brosnan, Lilly Singh, and Brendan Gleeson. Additionally, he serves as the producer of "Hitpig" (2022), a Pulitzer Prize-winning project starring Peter Dinklage, Lilly Singh, RuPaul, and international superstar Anitta. Both projects, alongside "Blazing Samurai," are part of the Aniventure banner.[6][7]
Before his tenure at Cinesite, Rosenbaum was the VP of Talent at Illumination Entertainment. Over nine years, he made substantial contributions to the globally successful animation production house, overseeing feature film development, marketing, games, and theme park initiatives. His influence was particularly notable in the success of "Minions," the second-highest-grossing animated film of all time.[8]
Additionally, he served as Production Executive and Story Supervisor on key projects, including "Despicable Me 1 & 2," "The Lorax," "The Secret Life of Pets," and "Sing."[9]
Before Illumination, Rosenbaum gained experience at DreamWorks and Screen Imagination Agency in Bulgaria. He made his directorial debut with "The Picture of Dorian Gray," which also marked Josh Duhamel's acting debut. Rosenbaum has directed several commercials and music videos for various brands and campaigns.[10]

Personal life
Dave is married to Brazilian molecular gastronomy chef, Aluizzio Vieira Dos Santos, whom he met in Sitges, Spain and married in 2018 during Rio Carnival in Rio. They currently split their time between Montréal, Maryland and Maui.
